Ria Nieswaag (b. 1950, the Netherlands) uses colors and light as the central theme in her works. With a special interest in the contrast between light and darkness, she simply and clearly expresses her feelings in a direct and intuitive manner. She sets up colorful, abstract impressions of nature with brush strokes. Her compositions are frequently constructed from the center, arranged according to tight horizontal and vertical axes. Sometimes a diagonal offers a solution to capturing a violent movement or emotion.
